I am a philosopher of cognitive science who focuses on religion, morality, norms and culture in general, all from a scientific perspective. I also have longstanding interests in philosophy of biology, due to questions about cultural evolution. In 2014 I joined the philosophy department at Purdue University as a member of the Building Sustainable Communities cluster hire, and in that capacity I apply theories of norm evolution and norm psychology to norms of sustainability. Some of my projects have an empirical component, drawing on methods from experimental philosophy. Others are purely conceptual.
